Since the countdown to the Maserati centenary celebration began, the Italian car manufacturer has been quite busy. The company set hefty goals for itself that includes going mainstream by making its brand more accessible. At each auto show, Maserati put forth its best effort to impress – and it excelled at doing so.
Each reveal and announcement carried with it a particular importance.
The newly-released Ghibli should reach a wider consumer base who seeks to revel in the luxury segment.
The impressive Alfieri Concept demonstrated the automaker’s capabilities to design a car that yields nothing but awe and envy.
The highly-anticipated Levante broadens the lineup that Maserati offers, encouraging SUV enthusiasts to try the brand.
Yesterday marked the beginning of the 2014 New York International Auto Show. It is here that Maserati continued its trend by making a surprise reveal. A customizable GranTurismo MC coupe and convertible, designed to pay homage to past generations of this Italian brand, were unexpectedly brought onto the stage and relished unabashed praise. These special editions offer exclusive features not available for other models.
Coloring
In addition to the traditional colors, these GranTurismo models also come in three-layer paint options of Magma Red and Inchiostro Blue – the two official colors of Bologna, Italy, which was where the Maserati family founded the car company. This choice also affects the interior color scheme, which is contingent upon the exterior paint. Either black or white leather seats are accompanied by red, white, or blue carbon fiber inserts.
Wheels
Consumers have the option to select four special finishes for their wheels. The center of the wheels boast medal-shaped centenary logos exclusive to these particular models, and the logos may come in matte Smoke Grey or Charcoal Grey. Another way to distinguish your Maserati – as if you needed any more distinction.
Powertrain
Though the engine is the same in the Centennial Editions as the standard GranTurismo, it still merits a mention. The 4.7-liter V8 coupled with a ZF-sourced six-speed automatic transmission generates 454 horsepower, and it can reach a top speed of 185 MPH.
At this point, the Centennial Editions are slated to join the lineup in early July of this year. We will certainly keep you posted, but we also encourage you to contact Maserati of Raleigh to learn more about this edition and its availability.
