It seems that 2014 may be the year of the Maserati. With a successful launch of the Ghibli and redesign for the Quattroporte, one would think that the Italian automaker could afford a months-long hiatus to bask in its prosperity. Instead, its leadership has continued working diligently, promising several new production models and even introducing the Alfieri concept car at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Maserati has put forth this concerted effort to finally make its brand mainstream.
Sergio Marchionne, Fiat’s CEO, has officially stated that the automaker is preparing manufacturing plants for production of the Levante, a first-ever Sport Utility Vehicle for the company, which will begin to reach showrooms in 2015. He also had encouraging news regarding the Alfieri. “The platforms and motors are there,” Marchionne said. “Technically, production could start in 24-28 months.” The CEO, however, did not indicate if the concept car would actually receive the green light to begin manufacturing it.
After a century of creating exclusive, gorgeous sports cars, the brand is now well on its way to becoming more accessible to greater numbers of consumers. With a goal of selling 50,000 units by 2015 – its record, set in 2013, is 15,400 – Maserati has quite the hill to climb. We at Maserati Raleigh are supremely confident that, while challenging, that goal is definitely reachable.
Our staff is excited about the future of the brand. The Ghibli, Quattroporte, and GranTurismo, as well as the future Levante (and possibly the Alfieri) all help establish Maserati as the premier luxury brand in today’s market. We welcome you to stop by at any time to speak with one of our brand ambassadors about which model best suits your tastes.
