There are few brands with names or logos that conjure feelings of superiority. An even smaller group shares the boast of being synonymous with highly-valued adjectives like “priceless” or “transcendent.” In a mere ten days, Maserati celebrates one hundred years of being synonymic with perfect. Yes, a century of perfection with humble beginnings on the Italian peninsula.
Alfieri, Ettore, and Ernesto Maserati shared a common passion: speed.
This spawned their interest in mechanics, so they could better understand a machine’s capabilities and limitations in top speeds and acceleration. As a result, they founded a car company in Bologna, Italy, in 1914 and began operation on December 14th of the same year.
By 1926, Maserati produced the Tipo 26, a proverbial beast that amassed multiple victories in the Targa Florio, Indianapolis 500, Formula One, and F1 World Championship.
How do you celebrate perfection?
Maserati has it figured out. The company will host a series of planned celebratory activities – over the course of ten months.
Racetrack sessions, group rides, fan fare, galas, and much more are anticipated to admire one of the most desired machines. And you don’t just celebrate anywhere – the company has chosen the gorgeous city of Modena, where dozens of prized models produced throughout Maserati’s illustrious history will be on display. The culminating event includes an aggregation of 250 models from all over the world.
For those interested in attending the event, or for Maserati enthusiast who just want an inside look, there is an official centennial website that provides interactive forums, intriguing facts, and a comprehensive list of the activities planned for the 100th anniversary.
